Transcatheter Closure of Patent Ductus Arteriosus Using the Amplatzer Duct Occluder.

چکیده
The Amplatzer duct occluder (ADO) (AGA Medical Corp., Golden Valley, MN) is designed to meet criteria for an optimal transcatheter technique for closure of a patent ductus arteriosus. It was developed as an alternative to surgical closure and other interventional techniques. It is not technically complex, allows controlled deployment, is retrievable and repositionable, and has a low risk of embolization. The ADO also has very high complete closure rate at 1-month follow-up comparable to surgical ligation and division.

Percutaneous Forceps Retrieval of an Embolized Amplatzer Duct Occluder
Transcatheter closure of patent ductus arteriosus with the Amplatzer duct occluder shows excellent results. However, there is a risk of device embolization after deployment. We report the case of a 33-year-old man in whom an embolized Amplatzer device was retrieved from the right pulmonary artery by a percutaneous method. We also review this uncommon severe complication and offer technical tips...
متن کاملTranscatheter closure of patent arterial duct with amplatzer duct occluder II additional sizes in children.
Amplatzer duct occluder II additional sizes is a new generation of device for arterial duct closure, appropriate for infants and older children. We report the successful transcatheter closure of the arterial duct in an infant and two older children with the above-mentioned device.
متن کاملTranscatheter Closure of Patent Ductus Arteriosus: Initial Study on Echocardiographic Estimation of Device Size
BACKGROUND Transcatheter occlusion of the patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) is a minimally invasive treatment. The appropriate device size is chosen based on the angiographic measurement of the PDA. The current study aimed to assess the relationship between the transthoracic echocardiographic (TTE) measurements of the PDA prior to the occlusion procedure and the actual size of the deployed device....
متن کاملTranscatheter closure of persistent ductus arteriosus in infants using the Amplatzer duct occluder.
AIM To evaluate whether transcatheter closure with the Amplatzer duct occluder offers an alternative to surgical treatment in infants with a persistent ductus arteriosus. METHODS 12 patients under 1 year of age (age 1-11 months, body weight 2.6-8.7 kg) with clinical and echocardiographic findings of a significant duct were considered for transcatheter closure with the Amplatzer occluder. The ...
متن کاملSuccessful transcatheter closure of a residual patent ductus arteriosus with complex anatomy after surgical ligation using an amplatzer ductal occluder guided by live three-dimensional transesophageal echocardiography.
Residual patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) after surgical ligation is not common, but the anatomy of the residual duct may be distorted by the surgical ligation resulting in a difficult transcatheter closure. Such distorted anatomy of the duct may not be demonstrated by the two-dimensional transesophageal echocardiography (2D TEE). Fortunately, live 3D TEE provided the precise anatomy of the elong...
